“Practice what you preach”

Across the country there is a movement to work at home and live near downtown. The problem is that most homes aren’t conducive for providing productive work spaces in a living environment. Every home we occupied had a home office in a room, such as a bedroom or a dining room, that was retrofitted to act as an office.

In 2012, with a desire to be downtown and have the opportunity to live and work in the same shell, we designed and built one of the first live+work dwellings in Lafayette. It’s significantly important to separate living and working conditions. The solution in this project was to provide a 1200 square foot office on the 1st floor, and situate the living spaces on the second and third floors.
